Kingston, 3 September 2018 – The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange, has congratulated the National Women's Football Team, the Reggae Girls, who've qualified for the CONCACAF Women's Championship after "really impressive victories" in the final round of qualification in Kingston.

Jamaica defeated Cuba 6-1 on Sunday in their final match of the qualification stage at the National Stadium thanks to goals from Chinyelu Asher (2), Khadija Shaw (2), Lauren Silver and Jody Brown.

Jamaica had earlier scored a 4-1 win over Trinidad and Tobago, defeated Bermuda 4-0, and slammed Antigua and Barbuda 9-0.

Minister Grange said:

"The Reggae Girls have done an exceptional job in qualifying for the women's Gold Cup.  They won every match in this round with really impressive victories.  I congratulate them on a job well done and I wish them well as they continue preparation for the championship.  I encourage all of Jamaica to get behind them and give them all the support as they continue to represent our nation well."

Minister Grange also extended congratulations to the leadership of the JFF as well as the coaching and support teams.
