Kingston, 8 May 2026 – The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange, has expressed sadness at the passing of the gospel artiste Kukudoo.

The revivalist singer, born David McDermott, passed away on Friday.

Minster Grange hailed him as “a cultural force whose work celebrated African-derived spiritual traditions within Jamaican society”.

The Minister said “Kukudoo was a strong performer who resonated across generations and social backgrounds”.

She said his passing was "a great loss and he would be sorely missed”.
