Kingston, 22 February 2024 – The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange, says the public will have an opportunity to pay final respects to the late Jamaican musician, Aston Francis Barrett.
Barrett, who was the bass player and musical director for Bob Marley and the Wailers, passed away on February 3 at the age of 77.
Minister Grange said members of the public would be able to view the remains of the musician and attend the funeral at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston on March 5, beginning at 10am.
Mourners have been requested to wear white.
Minister Grange said Barrett was "one of the best Reggae musicians Jamaica produced.”
Barrett provided the melodic bass on the Wailers’ biggest hits including ‘I Shot the Sheriff’, ‘Three Little Birds’ and ‘Jammin’.
