Kingston, 11 November 2025 – The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange, has expressed great sorrow at the tragic air accident which claimed lives of Christian missionaries who were transporting humanitarian aid to Jamaica.
Evangelist Alexander Wurm and his daughter Serena perished shortly after their plane took off in Florida on Monday.
Minister Grange, who has been coordinating hurricane relief through the National Religious and Faith-based Task Force, said the “passing of the missionaries who lost their lives on a mission to assist us in Jamaica is heartbreaking.”
Evangelist Wurm, the founder of Ignite the Fire Ministry, had been participating in relief activities in Jamaica since the passage of hurricane Melissa.
“We’re thankful for Evangelist Wurm’s kindness, compassion, and his devotion to serving others; and for his daughter, Serena, who was following so closely in his footsteps,” said Minister Grange.
“Let us remember their families in our prayers,” said the Minister.
Minister Grange also called on Jamaicans to pray for the country especially during the National Days of Prayer on Saturday, November 15 and Sunday, November 16, 2025 being coordinated through the National Religious and Faith-based Task Force.
