Jackson clocked 49.85 seconds to finish behind Shaunae Miller (49.44) of the Bahamas and Alyson Felix (49.51) of the United States.
The other Jamaican in the race, Stephenie Ann McPherson, finished 6th in a time of 50.97 seconds.
The Minister said: “I want to say to Stephenie Ann, you are in the top eight in the world, so don’t feel badly. We are just so happy that you all made it to Rio. It means that you are among the best in the world. Jamaica is proud of you and we will celebrate all of you when we get back home.”
