Sport Minister Praises Sunshine Girls for their Silver Medal Finish in Fast5 Tournament

The Honourable Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, has said that it was a tremendous performance from the Sunshine Girls to take the silver medal in the just concluded Fast5 Netball tournament in Australia.

“Join me in saluting the Sunshine Girls for putting in their best performance in the Fast5 competition since the introduction of the Tournament in 2012,” said Minister Grange.

Miss Grange said that though Jamaica missed out on the gold medal, the Sunshine Girls must be proud of their effort since right up to that final match against England their game was of impeccable standard.

The Jamaicans had actually defeated England in the preliminary rounds before losing to them by a narrow margin in the final game.

“All of Jamaica, in particular netball fans and supporters, can feel proud that the Sunshine girls really ‘tun up’ for this Fast5 tournament played amongst the top six netball nations in the world. They really did well,” the Sport Minister said.

Miss Grange said much praise was also due to the coaches and other support staff of the national netball team.
