Kingston, 23 October 2019 – The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange, has praised what she terms “the resilience, tenacity and self-belief” of Mrs Elaine Walker-Brown, “which resulted in her being elected the first woman President of the St. Catherine Football Association.”

Minister Grange said:

“Mrs Walker-Brown must be lauded for creating history when many thought it was beyond her to gain the leadership of an association which has had men as presidents for all of its existence.

“An indicator of her capacity, however, has been the many positions that she has occupied in the sport of football, including Chairman of the Jamaica Football Federation’s Women’s Football Committee.

“I wish President Walker-Brown and the new administration of the St. Catherine Football Association all the best,” Minister Grange concluded.
