The Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport has published a magazine in tribute to Jamaica’s team to the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
There’s tough competition for a place on any Jamaican sports team, so those who actually go through the process to earn a spot at these Winter Olympics are, quite rightly, very proud of the chance to represent the country.
BIG UP!, the ad hoc publication, reflects the pride of members of Team Jamaica. It includes intimate portraits of each member including the history-making alpine skier, Benjamin Alexander.
This edition also focuses on the trials, motivations and achievements of the woman on a mission, Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian; and the determination of Rolando Reid to represent Jamaica at the Olympics by any means.
The magazine also tracks Jamaica’s development into “a solid, winter sporting nation now” as described by winter sports pioneer, Dudley Stokes.
