Sport Minister welcomes new Reggae Boyz head coach

Kingston, 26 September 2022 – The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange, has welcomed to Jamaica, Mr Heimir Hallgrimsson, the new coach of the national senior football team, the Reggae Boyz.

In a letter to Mr Hallgrimsson, Minister Grange wrote, “On behalf of the Government and people of Jamaica, I welcome you to Jamaica. As Minister with responsibility for the Sport portfolio, I wish you a successful tenure as the Head Coach for the Reggae Boyz.

“The Reggae Boyz are well loved by Jamaicans and over the years have brought the country great pride and joy. With the recruitment of several talented players over the past few years, I am hopeful regarding the team’s ability to excel.

“Based on your experience and track record, I, like the rest of Jamaica, look forward to your guidance and direction as Head Coach to transform this group of very talented and skilled players into a force to be reckoned with on the field.

“I want to wish you well for the game this evening with Argentina. I will definitely be cheering on the team, and look forward to meeting you in person when both our schedules allow.”
