Grange announces $12.6M subvention to Premier League clubs

Kingston, 17 October 2023 - The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange, announced today that Twelve-Point Six Million Dollars (J$12.6M) will be given in monthly subventions of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,000.00) to each of the 14 clubs in the Jamaica Premier League.

Minister Grange said:

“The Ministry through the Sports Development Foundation will make payments to the clubs from November until April 2024.

“Once again, I am providing this support to the Premier League and since it is not unusual for the Premier League season to go beyond April, I will again consider maintaining the subvention until the end of the season.

“I believe that this support from the Government of Jamaica not only assists the Premier League but is also in the interest of Jamaica’s football in general. It is our hope that a vibrant Premier League will produce players for the national programme in a timely fashion.”
