Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange will lead the new board of the Jamaica National Commission for UNESCO in the capacity of Chairman. This, in keeping with the tradition of senior officials of the Ministry to which the National Commission is attached assuming ex-officio chairmanship.

On the occasion of the 123rd Anniversary of the Birth of the Right Excellent Norman Washington Manley, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, hailed the late National Hero as a man of great intellectual prowess and an unquenchable passion for excellence – one who made sterling contributions to nation building.

Sport Minister, Honourable Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, says the National Under-19 male volleyball team must build on the positives learned from their recent participation in the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) Boys Under-19 Championship in Havana, Cuba.

Sport Minister, the Honourable Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, has reaffirmed the Government of Jamaica’s commitment to aid in the growth and development of the nation’s Special Olympics programme, through continued financial and technical support.

Sport Minister, the Honourable Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange says she will be closely monitoring the case in which a Jamaican athlete has returned an adverse analytical result from the retesting programme of samples from the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Jamaica and Ethiopia have agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of sport and culture.

Sport Minister, the Honourable Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange says a meeting will be convened with members of the organizing committee headed by Mr. Jason McKay at the earliest possible date, with a view to see how best the Government of Jamaica can assist in successfully hosting the 2018 International Sport Kickboxing Association World Championship (ISKA).

The Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport will lead  the symbolic signing of the funding agreement between Jamaica and UNESCO’s International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD) on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Ministry’s Trafalgar Road office in Kingston. This agreement covers the revision of the National Culture Policy of Jamaica which was drafted in 2003. 

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, at a press conference at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA), welcomed His Imperial Highness, Prince Ermias Sahle - Selassie and his wife, Princess Saba Kebede, to Jamaica on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the State Visit of Emperor of Ethiopia, His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie, to Jamaica on April 21, 1966. 

The Honourable Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange has signaled that her Ministry, the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, is in the process of developing a national framework for the mobilization of more Jamaicans to participate in various forms of physical activity that contribute to mental and physical fitness, facilitate social interaction and foster social cohesion while building bridges of friendship at all levels of the Jamaican society.
