Grange Congratulates Jamaica NACAC Team

Kingston, August 13 – “Another exceptional performance by Jamaican athletes.” That is the comment from the Honourable Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport in congratulating the Jamaica team to the North American Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Senior Championships in Canada.

Minister Grange said, “Frederick Dacres and Shanieka Ricketts were particularly brilliant in setting championship records in the men’s discuss and the women’s triple jump, which also saw Ricketts defending her title.”

Miss Grange said Jamaica could also feel pleased with the “discuss bonus” that came with Traves Smikle taking second place behind Dacres.

“And we have even more to cheer about since overall, Jamaica enjoyed its best performance so far at this NACAC championships, coming away with 21 medals, seven gold, nine silver and five bronze.

“Congratulations to the entire NACAC team, the coaches, manager and support team for so fabulously representing Jamaica.”
